It’s our half-year check-in on how we are helping businesses progress towards sustainability, through better management of their utilities.
As buildings account for 20% of Singapore’s carbon emissions and consume more than a third of our nation’s electricity1, the carbon reduction efforts go a long way in supporting Singapore’s drive towards Net Zero.
SP Digital supports the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals in managing climate change. We focus on commercial, industrial and national needs, and are doing everything we can to advance sustainability in the built environment.
SP Digital is the knowledge partner of associations and institutions, and we organise sessions to share information and learnings to help businesses know more about sustainability and the ways by which they can progress in their green journey.
In January, SP Digital hosted members of Dormitory Association of Singapore Limited (DASL) to an in-person event at SP Digital’s office. Attendees were dormitory operators who learnt more about sustainable energy solutions such as solar and Electric Vehicles (EV) as well as Green Energy Tech (GETTM), the innovative utilities management system that includes GETTM Insights and GETTM TenantCare.
Representatives from SP Digital and our guest speakers – S11 Capital Investment Pte Ltd and BSI (British Standards Institution) – shared their experience and learnings about smart energy and water management for dormitories.
Colleagues from SP Digital and Sustainable Energy Solutions (SES) spoke about how our GET suite of solutions and SP Group’s low carbon solutions can green the dormitory industry. These include improving efficiency of utilities through a smart energy management system, closer monitoring to help reduce wastage, lowering carbon emissions and effectively managing challenges in the sustainability journey.
As utilities consumption accounts for 20% - 30% of the dormitories’ revenue2 and is one of the biggest monthly expenses after deducting land rental, smart utilities management will translate into energy efficiencies and cost optimisation.
S11 shared their learnings and challenges encountered on their sustainability journey, and how deploying GET solutions is resulting in better utilities management. Smart meters capture granular data which can be viewed and analysed via a utilities dashboard, enabling S11 to closely track consumption and be alerted to possible anomalies. BSI shared the various types of certifications, training, standards and services applicable for dormitories.
Real Estate Developers’ Association of Singapore (REDAS) represents developers, builders, real estate consultancies and allied professionals, bankers, REITs and fund managers. In April 2024, SP Digital hosted REDAS members to a workshop, highlighting smart digital solutions that enable the drive towards Super Low Energy Buildings (SLEB), and the transition to sustainable mobility via the electric vehicle ecosystem.
Our guests gained insights into how Green Energy Tech (GET™) improves efficiency of utilities, and helps create green buildings. With the deployment of GET™ Control, a self-learning building intelligence system that optimises air-conditioning and energy efficiency, building owners and facility managers can provide a comfortable and healthy indoor environment for occupants. The innovative microclimate control system can connect to any BMS (Building Management System) without needing major retrofitting of buildings and prohibitive costs.
Our SP Mobility team also introduced the ecosystem for EVs, including the installation and set-up of EV charging points in commercial and private residential properties, and managing the charging network with GET™ Mobility, a comprehensive EV Charging Management System.
In April 2024, we connected with practitioners from the healthcare and related sectors to share knowledge and insights in energy and water sustainability in the healthcare setting. It was held in Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. Our speaker, Mr Satinderpal Singh Sandhu (Head of Sales & Customer Operations, SP Digital), provided information and insights into “Sustainable Energy Solutions”.
Also in April was JTC’s annual signature event, a seminar that shared innovative approaches to achieving exceptional building performance, and looked at case studies of exemplary buildings. Mr Giles Chua (Business Development Director, SP Digital) expounded on our approach to “Powering Super Low Energy Buildings”.
SP Digital continues in our outreach to businesses to support their sustainability efforts. If you would like to learn more, please feel free to contact us.
